Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández is being the closest thing to a Manchester United ambassador in Los Angeles. The Mexican striker called on the fans of the city not to miss the duel between the ‘Reds Devils’ vs. Liverpool on March 5 through a Watch Party.
During an interview for the official United podcast, Hernández spoke about his time at the institution, the meaning of these matches and the event that will take place in Los Angeles. “Sometimes you’re going to win and sometimes you’re not, but I think these kinds of events and this electricity, lots of people in Los Angeles and different parts of the world enjoying it, it’s going to be amazing. As a real Manchester United fan, I think we are back,” he opined about the Watch Party.
‘Chicharito’ knows what it is to play this kind of matches. He scored three goals against Liverpool when he was defending the colors of United. For this reason, he extended the invitation to fans in the United States to witness this England classic.
“Fans from all over the United States in LA, all of California, et cetera, can come to these events because this is the derby that we can’t lose, it’s one of those games that you know you have to see. A Manchester United vs. Liverpool, it’s like a Barcelona vs. Real Madrid. You play for Manchester United and you are a United player forever,” he urged.
The veteran attacker is currently captain of the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS, but from 2010 to 2015 he was linked to Manchester United with a stint at Real Madrid in 2014. “Staying through bad times with your team and then receiving the reward that give that… Dude, that is priceless. Good fans are those who, even if their favorite player is not on the pitch, want to see United play,” he said.
