Diego Cocca delivered his first official list for his debut on the bench of the Mexican National Team. Even though he called up 34 players, many heavy names were left off the roster. In the attack in Mexico is where great doubts were generated, especially due to the absence of Javier Hernández and Víctor Guzmán.
The Argentine strategist ruled out any problem with Chicharito by stating that he has already held talks with the Los Angeles Galaxy striker. In addition, Cocca assured that regardless of this list of 34 players, those who were left out of it have the same possibilities of receiving the call.
“Many players were spoken to, it is still the message from the first day, we will decide who is in their first moment, to contribute to the National Team. I have spoken with many players, including Chicharito. All the Mexican players are possible and we will decide the moment. I don’t know what will happen tomorrow today we decided 34 and the commitment of this team is to see all those who can represent Mexico keep them in mind”, indicated the Argentine at a press conference.
Pocho Guzmán is on the black list
The case of Víctor Guzmán is somewhat more complicated. Diego Cocca considers that the striker’s absence is related to a matter of taste. The call of the Chivas de Guadalajara striker becomes much more complex due to the issue of subjectivity. But The Argentine strategist believes that Guzmán could have an evolution in his style to be able to be called.
“Logically it is being seen, maybe it is a matter of position, of analyzing the rival. We think that in the case of Pocho he played a different position in Pachuca and Chivas. There are other players that I like more, it goes through moments and evolutionpart of my will is the possibility of speaking with him. Surely he will have the possibility of being summoned”, he explained.
Mexico will play a couple of official matches in March. El Tri will face Suriname on March 23 and Jamaica on March 26. The match will be developed within the framework of the Concacaf Nations League.
