César Azpilicueta left the Chelsea game on a stretcher and with oxygen after receiving a chilling kick to the face (Video)

During a match in the English Premier League this Saturday between Chelsea and Southampton, the Spanish defender César Azpilicueta had to leave the match on a stretcher and with oxygen after receiving a chilling kick to the face in the middle of a set piece.

At the Stamford Bridge Stadium, with the score 0-1 in favor of the visitors and a corner kick at minute 73, the action took place in which the veteran was harmed.

Inside the area and after several rebounds, Azpilicueta went for a header, but Sekou Mara’s boots hit his face before they hit the ball. César ended up collapsed on the grass and his teammates quickly had to call for medical assistance.

For several minutes, members of the Chelsea medical team were on the pitch treating the Spaniard. After about 10 minutes, he had to leave the match on a stretcher and with an oxygen mask on his face while the ‘Blues’ fans chanted his name.

Although the television broadcast did not repeat the play, it quickly went viral on different social networks.

According to information from the EFE news agency, Azpilicueta is conscious, although with a bit of a headache and awaiting further medical examinations at a London hospital.

The defender returned to ownership with Chelsea in this match after having spent two consecutive games on the substitute bench. The ‘Blues’ continue with the losing streak and ended up losing to the visit by 0-1.

During the week they lost in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Borussia Dortmund also by the minimum. They are currently in tenth position in the Premier League with 31 points.
