Carlos Vela and LAFC presented a change in the team’s crest for the 2023 season

Los Angeles FC are the reigning MLS champions and to prove it to their fans they slightly changed the team crest for the 2023 season of the American Soccer League.

For this year, the LAFC team will have a star next to its shield that is a sign of its first MLS championship. The Mexican Carlos Vela, Illie Sánchez and Giorgio Chiellini are the first to wear the new jersey along with the champions’ star.

“It gives him a touch that he needed. From the first moment I came here to achieve important things, to be able to make history in this club. I think the only way to do it is to put little stars on the shield and hopefully it will be the first of many”, Vela expressed in the video next to the new shirt that the team revealed.

This year will be a challenge for LAFC because they will have a long schedule of up to 60 games with the MLS, the Concacaf Champions League and the Leagues Cup., among other tournaments. The Los Angeles team must prepare well physically for what will be a long year in search of more titles.

“I would say our strategy going into this is to map all the competitions. We, rightly or wrongly, try to win it all. For us, building a strong roster is our priority given the number of games we can play – up to 60 games this season,” John Torrington, the club’s general manager, said of the season ahead for LAFC.

LAFC has three friendly matches scheduled to prepare for the season. In the recent week they lost 0-2 to Real Salt Lake and drew goalless against New York City.

The next friendly matches will be against DC United, Toronto FC and San Diego Royal.

LAFC’s first game of the season will be against LA Galaxy in the Traffic Classic where the defense of the title and the search for the second star for the Los Angeles club will begin.
