Despite his loss against Dmitry Bivol and criticism of his form, Canelo continues to be one of the fighters of the moment. This is why many boxers join the long list of eager fighters who They are looking for a fight with the Mexican. One of the most insistent is David Benavidez, a Mexican-American boxer who tries to motivate Canelo with his statements.
“I think that that fight (Canelo vs. Benavidez), represents the biggest of the decade, is the fight that many people want to seenot only the fans, but many boxing legends as well,” said the Mexican-American boxer in an interview with TUDN.
It is worth remembering that This is not the first time that David Benavidez has raised his hand with the intention of facing Canelo. The “Red Flag” has been constantly rejected by Saúl Álvarez, but even so he insists on a fight against the man from Guadalajara.
“When it happens it will be the biggest fight in boxing right now. It’s not an obsession, I’m the fighter everyone wants to see Canelo face”, he stressed.
The fight against Canelo is getting closer
David Benavidez’s dream could come true. But for it, the Mexican-American boxer must defeat the American Caleb Plant on March 25. In theory, and as mandated by the World Boxing Council, the winner will have a direct pass to a fight against Saúl Álvarez.
“Everyone has seen that I don’t like the type of person Caleb Plant is, he talks a lot, that motivated me much more to train harder to knock out”, he added.
