Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez surprised everyone with some statements where he revealed that he sees Gervonta Davis better positioned and not his compatriot Ryan García in his fight this year. The boxer from Guadalajara made an appearance at Super Bowl LVII that took place a week ago at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and upon leaving he was rebuked by various media and spoke with TMZ Sports.

There he gave his point of view on the fight and opted for the American. “I think Davis has more experience, but it’s going to be a good fight. Garcia is a good fighter. He is very talented, but I think he needs more fights before the Gervonta fight,” he said.

It should be remembered that Álvarez trained alongside Ryan García at the start of his 24-year boxing career. However, he would end up leaving Eddy Reynoso’s gym due to disagreements between the two.

Garcia and Davis hold unbeaten records in their fights. The Mexican has numbers of 23-0 and the North American 28-0. However, the latter has established himself faster at the international level and this is possibly the reason why he considers him better positioned to succeed in combat.

Although there is still no exact date for this duel, the ESPN chain reported that both stars would have signed their signature to see their faces on April 15 in Las Vegas. From there would come the challenger who would face off with the unified champion Davin Haney.
