Through a press release revealed by WWE, it was learned that the singer Benito Martínez, better known as Bad Bunny, will host the “Backlash” event that will be organized by the wrestling company on May 6 at the José M. Agrelot Coliseum of Puerto Rico in San Juan.
Backlash will be WWE’s first “premium” live event to take place in Puerto Rico since January 2005, The company said in a press release, where Bad Bunny also spoke and explained how he could not be present at said event held in 2005.
“In 2005, chen I was a child, I couldn’t attend New Year’s Revolution at the Colosseum”Bad Bunny said in the note in reference to another event that WWE presented, but also revealed that after 18 years of waiting Puerto Rico will have the event on the island again and he will say present.
“Finally, 18 years later, WWE returns to the island with a massive event and this time I won’t miss it.”said the most listened to artist in the world on music platforms and a two-time Grammy winner.
WWE excited about its participation in Puerto Rico
For his part, WWE Chief Content Officer and former American wrestler Paul “Triple H” Levesquesaid that both he and the company are “excited to bring ‘Backlash’ to San Juan as demand for WWE ‘premium live events’ outside of the continental United States continues to grow.”
In addition, “Triple H” spoke about the artist, who recognized as one of the most important and popular artists in the world today: “Bad Bunny is one of the artists most popular in the world and nowhere is this more evident than in his native Puerto Rico“, he stressed.
This is not the first time Bad Bunny has been involved with WWE
In 2021 Martínez fulfilled several dreams, including when On January 31 of that year, he participated in the legendary “Royal Rumble” event, when he performed the song “Booker T”, homonymous name of the American ex-wrestler and included in his album “El Último Tour del Mundo”.
Meanwhile, Bad Bunny debuted on April 11 of that year as a fighter in the 2021 edition of WrestleMania, one of the main events of this WWE sport, when he faced The Miz.
