On Monday, this year’s participants of Over the Atlantic began the 2,700-mile long sail from Gran Canaria to the Caribbean and Saint Martin. Joining this year’s adventure are Anders Svensson, Maria Montazami, Mikkey Dee, Nassim Al Fakir, Julia Dufvenius and Hans Fahlén. Season 5 of Över Atlanten premieres later this autumn on Kanal 5 and discovery+.
The recordings for the hit program and the crystal winner Över Atlanten are in full swing. The new gang consisting of Anders Svensson, Maria Montazami, Mikkey Dee, Nassim Al Fakir, Julia Dufvenius and Hans Fahlén set off from Gran Canaria on Monday and have thus begun the 2,700 mile long sail to the final destination in Saint Martin. As in previous years, the captain Gurra Krantz is on the adventure.
– It is fantastic that we are now starting the fifth season of Över Atlanten! New type of boat, slightly larger again and a proven Swan boat of 70 feet, approx. 21 m long. A little more comfortable some may think, but it still requires a lot of sailing and activity from us on board. As usual, it will be difficult to say what will happen. The weather and the crew shape how the trip develops. Much depends on our famous crew and how they approach the task of sailing across the Atlantic. It’s real, and no matter how it turns out, it’s always a match against the sea and the weather. The sea usually has its own way of showing who is in charge, says Gurra Krantz, Captain Över Altanten.
Over the Atlantic has grown to become a real audience favorite and last year the hit program took home a crystal for Reality Program of the Year.
