a step forward in smartwatches

We went to try out the new Huawei Watch 3 and the result couldn’t be better. Ideal for those who want a smartwatch that is both elegant and practical.

Gone are the days when the wristwatch was an element that only served to tell the time. The advent of smartwatches has brought with it a range of features that make them an almost indispensable gadget to monitor almost everything around us and to give us precious indications on how our body behaves in certain situations. The market is vast, the offers multiply, but this time we tried the Huawei Watch 3.

One of the hallmarks of Huawei smartwatches is their round shape, outside the usual canons of this type of product, which look for more rectilinear geometric configurations. The rounded glass, which is very resistant, increases that sensation of having a so-called “normal” watch on your wrist, but the truth is that after the first use, you realize that you are facing a premium quality productwhose attractive price makes it one of the best options on the market for those who are thinking about investing in a smartwatch.

Huawei Watch 3: choose your preferred watch face

First of all, it is a device that allows a remarkable degree of personalization, whether in the vast technological offer it makes available, or in the simple fact of being able, for example, to change the bracelet to the color that best suits you or your state of mind. Once properly placed on the wrist, it is an immersive and even addictive experience in discovering the full potential of the Huawei Watch 3.

The model we tested features the already distinctive AMOLED screen, measuring 1.43 inches, with remarkable brightness and sharpness, ideal to be consulted in any lighting situation. on, the Huawei Watch 3 allows you to choose from a remarkable number of dials (Watch Faces), ranging from the most radical (with stylized numbers and letters) to the most classic (taking us back to the olden days of pointer watches). But if these are just details, the operating system that the brand decided to include in this smartwatch, HarmonyOS 2, is a whole new experience.

Huawei AppGallery included

This bet allows Huawei devices to not be dependent on external entities to offer a wide range of configurations, while demonstrating a remarkable speed in the execution of the apps that the smartwatch can accumulate (and that can be downloaded directly from Huawei AppGallery). The storage capacity has improved considerably, with no big swings in terms of performance.

Still in terms of design and operation, the Huawei Watch 3 now features a rotating crown, for a smoother and more intuitive experience. The second button is essential to start, for example, the training program quickly. And it is also in the area of fitness that this smartwatch stands out.

Training with Huawei Watch 3

ideal for fitness

To explore the advertised capabilities, we decided on an hour-long outdoor workout, alternating running and walking. Having chosen the option (from the generous menu of grid-style applications) among the many dozens of training types available, it was time to get started. And here, the Huawei Watch 3 showed what breed it is made of.

There is no tracking sensor missing, from the traditional time, speed, incline, steps or calories expended, to heart rate, GPS or motion sensors.

At the end of the training, we receive a complete report of the effort spent, which when synchronized with the Huawei Health app, allows us to establish a history that can be fundamental to adjust training plans.

And as health is a key factor, the Huawei Watch 3 also allows the detection of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), measures the level of stress and regulates the quality of sleep. As you can see, all the fundamental indications for those who like to do controlled exercise and know how much they are walking.

Another thing to keep in mind when training: in addition to being able to listen to your favorite music, the Huawei Watch 3 it also allows you to make and receive calls, through an autonomous connection, achieved by activating the eSIM service on your smartphone. Running and talking is not the perfect combination, but in an emergency situation it can always come in handy.

Huawei Watch 3: battery for 3 days

The Huawei Watch 3 battery should last, on average, about 3 days. During the test we did, and even with intensive use, this smartwatch did not go downhill, achieving quite pleasant performances in this particular one. It has an ultra-long battery option, disabling some connections. Wireless charging is done from a circular base (with USB connection), with an estimated time of 120 minutes for the battery to be at maximum again.

More than just a smartwatch, the Huawei Watch 3 it is a surprising extension of each person. A flick of the wrist activates the device, starting an adventure of discovering a vast number of applications and features (such as the remote shutter so that you are always in the picture), in a pleasant and very intuitive interface to use. It’s another winning bet by Huawei, which is thus positioned at the front of the pack.
