has made it giving up sugar almost 30 years ago after being addicted to sweets for a long time.
«I have not taken sugar for 28 years. It was difficult at first as I was addicted, but I think that’s one of the reasons I’ve been able to stay healthy and keep my body in shape,” Carolyn comments.
“I make sure I eat protein at every meal, especially breakfast. It stops the cravings,” she says.
She also says it’s crucial not to deprive yourself of the food and drink you love, but to watch your portion size.
He acknowledges that staying in shape after 40 can be a bit more difficult, but it is possible if you really want to.
“Our metabolism slows down as we get older. This means we have to take control and make healthier choices,” Carolyn says.
«It is very important to know the type of food and the amount you eat. Being mindful while eating is a huge factor. Mindless eating can lead to unnecessary weight gain.
Enjoying and savoring every bite will help you slow down the rate at which you eat and make you less likely to overeat.”
Instead of sugar, use a sweetener called Xylitol., an all-natural substitute found in berries and some vegetables. Aside from ditching sugar and managing portions, Carolyn says that sleep is also a very important element of staying fit and healthy. In fact, she always tries to get about eight hours of sleep a night and has done so for her entire life.
“This is when our body heals and rejuvenates,” he explains. He also comments that he uses sun cream every day and that he never sunbathes. “I am very aware of the damaging effects of the sun. They reminded me of that when they removed cancer from my nose when I was only 30 years old.
Looking good is related to attitude and diet. “You have to be optimistic. Be happy and don’t worry about your age. Learn to see the glass half full. The day is partly sunny, not partly cloudy,” is Carolyn’s advice.
