Last Friday (5) the 5G auction was held, the fifth generation of mobile internet in Brazil. 5G should improve the national telecommunications system. With that comes the promise of putting Brazil on the world map with the most advanced technology in this regard.
This new technology should reach all Brazilian cities by the year 2029. The main capitals and the Federal District will have the service available by July 31, 2022.
Among the characteristics that differ 5G from those already in use, we can say that its speed will be 100x greater than 4G, with less latency. Some smartphones are already equipped for the use of 5G.

How was the 5G auction?

These companies compete with each other for the so-called frequency bands, which are where internet data passes. The auction also included the addition of six new operators.
THE Algar Telecom and Sercomtel also obtained lots. These two companies already operate in the telecommunications market. All companies will start offering investments in the implementation of 5G based on the frequency they reach.
Not all lots were auctioned. These tracks will go on sale in the near future. Of the total offered in the auction, 15% had no interested parties.
What is the importance of this auction?
The trading session was the main one ever carried out by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) and ranked second among the largest in the country. Most of the resources moved will be destined to mandatory investments by the operators. This will be the way to ensure that this technology reaches places of low economic attractiveness.
All contracts will be valid for at least 20 years and the amounts invested in this area were deducted from the auction.
Conclusion
With 5G, it will be possible to accelerate the evolution of internet industries. He also promises to change people’s relationship with consumer goods. This faster connection could advance even fields such as telemedicine, enabling precise remote surgery.
We still have a long time to go before the full implementation of this technology. The expectation is that it will take at least 2 to 4 years. Even so, some national operators already advertise 5G, but this is not considered authentic, but a transition.
