Protect the skin from the cold it is a care that few have. The truth is that in summer we tend to be more careful with our skin: we use sunscreen, moisturize the skin, drink more water, etc. The same is not true during the coldest period.
But did you know that our skin needs just as much (if not more) protection during the colder fall and winter weather? With the following tips, discover how to protect your skin from the cold.
How to protect the skin from the cold: 5 steps
I thought it was only in the summer that I had to drink water in the right amount? It’s important to keep your body hydrated from the inside out throughout the year.
Your skin will thank you, as will your hair – which will become shinier.
We know that sometimes it’s difficult to drink just water and, for that, we have teas as the perfect alternatives. In addition to helping you stay hydrated, they will also keep you warm so that’s just a plus!
two.
Sunscreen, always
This is another neglected aspect during colder weather, however it is one of the main allies to keep the skin protected from the cold.
Always use a moisturizer with Sun Protection Factor, preferably above factor 15.
It may seem that the sun does not cause damage, because it is colder and the weather is more cloudy / rainy, but UV rays are still present.
If you live in a snowy area, then you should be extra careful and use SPF.
3.
Moisturizer always at hand
To protect your skin from the cold, it is essential to moisturize it morning and night. A good day cream (with SPF as mentioned in the previous point) and one at night make all the difference in your skin’s health.
Furthermore, it is important that during your day-to-day life you pay attention to your skin’s needs and reapply moisturizer if necessary.
To this end, we advise you to always have a hand cream with you that will prove to be usable for different situations.
During the winter, our skin feels drier and, many times, it seems that it is “flaking”. This effect is caused by a lack of hydration and, to keep your skin regenerated and healthy, you should regularly exfoliate to get rid of these dead cells.
Our suggestion is that you start using an exfoliating product once a week during your shower.
You can even make a homemade scrub and effective: combine honey with coarse salt (with more aggressive exfoliation power) or sugar (softer, ideal for daily/regular exfoliation), and voila.
5.
Extra lip care
Pay special attention and care to your lips during cold weather. In winter, and even with the onset of cold weather during autumn, our lips can become dehydrated and chapped very easily.
To prevent this from happening, it is essential that you use a lip balm with great moisturizing power. If you wear make-up, avoid long-lasting lipsticks, as they dry out your lips a lot, and opt for a tinted balm or moisturizing lipstick.
Ready to face the cold autumn and winter days? With these tips we are sure that your skin will always be protected from the cold.
