4 Drinks That Will Help You Fall Asleep And Lose Weight While You Sleep

Every day there are more people with overweight and insomnia in the world and, coincidentally, these are two of the main causes of the vast majority of diseases that exist.

There are studies that affirm that both conditions are interconnected, since not sleeping at night causes our body to not regulate blood glucose correctly.

Elevated blood sugar levels lead to overproduction of insulin and, consequently, to the resistance to it. This is the starting point of obesity in most cases.

On the other hand, obesity leads to many other health problems that prevent proper rest.

Thus we find ourselves in a situation in which if we do not rest well, we gain weight and, furthermore, most drugs for obesity cause insomnia. It is the whiting that bites its tail, a vicious circle and in which when you enter you seem unable to leave.

However, there are certain natural remedies that can help you sleep and activate your metabolism while you sleep. In this way you will rest what is necessary and, in addition, you will be able to burn fat without realizing it.

These natural remedies will help you fight insomnia and obesity

1- Apple juice

Psyllium or psyllium is an herb that is often used as a laxative, but it can also help you lose weight. The shell is nearly inert and has no discernible taste or odor. It rapidly absorbs large amounts of water and swells to form a viscous gel. On the other hand, apple juice is quite a sweet drink and if you add cinnamon to it, it is delicious.

For this remedy you will need:

  • 1 apple
  • 1 cup of cold water
  • 2 teaspoons of 100% pure psyllium husk powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Cut the apple and add the pieces to the cup of cold water. Add the two teaspoons of psyllium powder and the cinnamon and mix everything very well. Drink it right away before the rind gets too thick. Next, drink a glass of water.

The psyllium husk mucilages act as a lubricant, aiding the digestion of food. In addition, they reduce the absorption of fat and provide a feeling of satiety.

For its part, apple juice, thanks to the pectin, can help you limit the absorption of fat, while the antioxidants in the fruit, especially quercetin, can help reduce oxidative damage and inflammation.

Lastly, cinnamon has the ability to regulate blood sugar. This helps reduce the conversion of sugar to fat and its storage in adipose tissue. In addition, it will help you speed up your metabolism and burn fat when your body requires less energy.

Caution: Psyllium husk can reduce the effect of medications and the absorption of nutrients, so take it within 2 hours of taking medications and eating meals.

2- Aloe Vera

Surely you already know the large number of healing properties that the gel contained in the Aloe Vera leaves has. It has been used for many years to regenerate the skin and treat burns, but it can also become your perfect nutritional supplement.

For this remedy you will only need:

  • Between 50 and 100 ml of sour cherry juice
  • 25 ml of aloe vera juice
  • Cold water

Mix all the ingredients in a glass and drink it. Cherry juice improves the quality and duration of sleep. An increase in melatonin, the hormone that regulates the sleep cycle, has been observed in people who drink this juice regularly. In addition, it is anti-inflammatory and helps reduce fluid retention.

Aloe Vera gel is full of mucopolysaccharides and other compounds with healing and nourishing properties. The plant sterols it contains have the ability to reduce fat deposits in the body, especially abdominal fat. Laboratory studies in obese rats and small clinical studies in obese diabetic and prediabetic patients confirm this observation.

Caution: If this drink gives you abdominal cramps, it could be due to the amount of aloin that commercial Aloe Vera products contain. The best thing is that you plant your own Aloe and extract the gel from the leaves yourself.

3- Ginger

This is one of the most used drinks to lose weight. It is light and refreshing, ideal to take it in the morning.

You will only need:

  • About 10 slices of cucumber with skin
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 180 ml of water
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • A pinch of Himalayan pink salt

Mix the cucumber and grated ginger with the water and add the juice of one lemon and salt. Cucumber is a vegetable with very few calories and a high fiber content. Ginger reduces discomfort associated with indigestion that can disrupt sleep. Being a carminative, ginger reduces gas formation and relieves heartburn and upset stomach. It also increases the metabolic rate, helping to burn fat. Finally, it is anti-inflammatory and helps reduce fluid retention.

Lemon is an excellent detoxifier. Although the juice contains large amounts of citric acid, it has an alkalizing effect on the body when fully digested and assimilated.

4- Hot milk and nutmeg drink

A glass of warm milk before bed used to be the best solution to get a good night’s rest, but now all dairy products are looked at with a magnifying glass. Although many people continue to believe that milk makes you fat, according to research published by the European Journal of Nutrition in 2013, 11 out of 16 studies that have been conducted on the subject have shown otherwise.

For this remedy you will need:

  • 1 cup milk (preferably organic milk)
  • 1-2 teaspoons of honey
  • A pinch of freshly grated nutmeg

Heat the milk and add the honey and grated nutmeg. Drink the mixture immediately.

The tryptophan contained in milk induces sleep. This essential amino acid is required in the formation of serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with feelings of relaxation and sleep. On the other hand, calcium and vitamin D can contribute to weight loss, just as a lack of these nutrients causes weight gain. Also, when the carbohydrates in honey come into play, it is much easier for tryptophan to enter the brain.

Nutmeg has a sedative effect and, when heated, has a thermogenic effect that helps boost metabolism and burn fat while you sleep.

Caution: Nutmeg, like other spices, should be used in very small amounts to get its full benefits.

All these remedies will help you rest much better and, in addition, they will speed up your metabolism while you sleep so that it is much easier for you to burn calories.
