Today we are going to talk about Grace Chon, an animal photographer, and these images are from his new series of photos titled HAIRY (Peludos).
She has always liked to compare before and after photos of grooming a dog, as they are usually so much fun.
Usually it looks like they are totally different animals in each photo! She says that she intended to make a collection of photos that would highlight that extreme transformation.
“First of all, they had to let each dog grow its hair for the photos. I find dogs so fluffy you can barely see their faces so funny! I wanted there to be a lot of contrast between the before and after photos, highlighting a type of haircut that is rare to see.” Said Grace Chon
All the dogs were groomed in a Japanese style, which does not follow the usual breed standard cuts and patterns we are used to seeing. “The emphasis is on making the dog look as adorable as possible.” These undercuts are works of art – each haircut takes hours and hours of work, as most of the process is done with scissors.
All the dogs in the photo collection were groomed by amazing groomers in Los Angeles, CA. Many of the hairdressers were not specialized in this style of cut and had to be trained by masters from Japan. I hope you enjoy it!

The truth is that these groomers have done a wonderful job with these puppies, and have left them with a very original look. Of course, have the dogs endured sitting for so long without moving during the process? Surely not, so these hairdressers have more merit. But without a doubt, the results are adorable.
