Hong Kong is full of interesting corners. It is a city that has grown exponentially in recent years, and every corner of the city reflects it.
Is this what made Romain Jacquet-Lagrezea French photographer, created his «Concrete Stories», a collection of photographs that he made of the daily life of Hong Kongers on the rooftops of the city.
“All the photos are disorganized and I had to wait for the right moment to capture them and show the vernacular culture of the people living in such an extremely urbanized environment,” Romain said in an interview.
“This series started with a fluke. It was one morning in 2014 when I found myself on a rooftop looking for another photography project. The sky was very clear that day, and the rising sun was gradually illuminating the city, opening small pockets of light through the buildings»
At that moment, a nearby rooftop was suddenly bathed in light, and something on it moved. Looking more carefully, I realized that it was someone repairing an antenna, as if it was illuminated by the sun. I quickly photographed the scene, fascinated by the magic of the moment” explained Romain.
