The problem with many of our New Year’s resolutions is that they are not concrete, such as these, to say the least, familiar resolutions: “Get hold of your career”, “get useful” and “get in shape”. The promises are often also about making big changes in our lives, which makes them feel difficult to grasp and easy to break. Therefore, invest in promises you can actually keep before you commit to those that will change your life. We list 11 promises that will make you feel a little better.
1. Invite your friends over for dinner
Spend time with your loved ones and treat them to a cozy dinner when the situation allows it again. Cook something good and just talk to your friends. There is nothing as energizing as spending time with friends.
2. Reconnect with a friend you’ve drifted away from
This may feel awkward, but you don’t have to call the person in question. Write a message on Facebook or send a text, you’ll feel so good when you’ve done it.
3. Read a book
You don’t have to start reading every day and plow through tons of books. It’s enough to get through one book this year. Who knows, you might read it much faster and enjoy it more? A book is better than no book!
4. Plan a trip
The year will feel so much more exciting if you plan a wonderful trip. It doesn’t have to be a luxurious trip to the Maldives, but a weekend in another city can be enough, as long as it’s a change of scenery. Make the planning now and then just leave when you can travel again!
5. Throw away torn and washed underwear
New year, new underwear as no one usually says – but it’s a perfect occasion. Grab the underwear drawer and throw out the torn, tatty and saggy panties. Also take the opportunity to throw out that bra that chafes but is really nice. Away, away, away. Then treat yourself to new nice underwear. A small thing that will make you feel a little happier.

6. Drink a glass of water every day
Perfect for getting enough fluids. You probably already drink a glass a day without knowing it. So good.
7. Smile at everyone you meet
A smile is contagious and puts you in a better mood. So by smiling at people you meet, you put them in a better mood. If there’s one thing we need in this world, it’s happy people. So go out and smile with you (here are 7 reasons to smile every day)!
8. Do something kind every day
Make it a goal to try to do something kind to another person every day. It can be about fetching something for a colleague, doing the dishes or helping someone. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, everything counts.
9. Call your friends
You probably talk to your friends often, but it’s probably only via text or in a chat. Take your time and give your friends a signal. It is actually much more rewarding to talk to them on the phone than by text.
10. Have a cozy night a week
Treat yourself to one night a week where you do nothing. Lie on the couch, watch a movie and eat something good. We live in a stressed society and we have to learn to relax and above all not to feel bad about it.
